Wildcat Netters Fall to Bethel after Winning First Set

The Culver-Stockton College men's volleyball team took the first set in its opening match of the weekend at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Ind.

However, the Pilots were able to claim the next three sets to earn a 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 victory, dropping the Wildcats to 1-5 on the young season.

C-SC started strong in its attacking, registering a .275 attack percentage in the first two sets. But the Wildcats tired and that percentage dropped to .089 percent over the final two sets, ending with a.167 percentage overall.

Aaron Jurenka was the only Wildcat in double figures in kills, finishing with 13 terminations. Jacob Todd and Malachi Gnade each recorded eight kills in the match, while Matt Reese (15) and Owen Randle (13) combined for 28 set assists.

The Wildcats end the weekend Saturday with two more matches at the Bethel University quadrangular. The Wildcats are scheduled to play Saturday against Roosevelt (Ill.) at 10 a.m. and Cumberland (Tenn.). at 2 p.m.
