Wildcats Fall Twice at Missouri Baptist Triangular

The Culver-Stockton College men's volleyball team came up short in two matches, including a Heart of America Athletic Conference match, Tuesday night during a triangular at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Mo.

The Wildcats opened the night with a tough four-set loss to Brescia (Ky.) University. The match was close throughout with the Bearcats holding on for a 25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 32-30 victory.

C-SC had three players reach double figures in kills with Malachi Gnade leading the way with a double-double of 17 terminations and 12 digs. Jacob Todd added 16 kills and five service aces, while Zach Kowalewicz chipped in with 15 kills. Owen Randle and Matt Reese combined for 49 set assists with Randle contributing 26 assists.

Cikeng King led the back row with 15 digs while Randle totaled 12 digs to go along with all of his assists. Kowalewicz and Jack Laney registered three block assists as the Wildcats garnered six team blocks.

In the conference match against eighth-ranked Missouri Baptist, the Wildcats ran out of steam against the Spartans, falling 265-12, 25-12, 25-19.

Todd led the offense with six kills while Gnade had four kills. Reese recorded a team-best seven set assists.

The Wildcats return home for a pair of Heart of America Athletic Conference matches this weekend, March 8-9 at Charles Field House. The Wildcats face Park University on Friday at 6 p.m. and Graceland University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
