Men's Volleyball Pushes Roosevelt to Five Sets in Loss to Lakers

The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team came up short in its bid to capture its first victory of the season Friday night Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill.

The Wildcats lost two of the first three sets before claiming the fourth set to forced a winner-take-all fifth set. Roosevelt the seven of the first 10 points of the final set and went on to win the match 22-25, 25-19, 26-24, 21-25, 15-11. C-SC is 0-4 in five set matches this season.

Two Wildcats registered 10 or more kills and had attack percentages of .400 or better in the match. Riko Davis led the C-SC attack with 15 kills and a .406 attack percentage while Henry Reeves totaled 14 terminations and a .429 hitting percentage.

Overall the Wildcats had their best hitting match of the season, garnering a .275 attack rate. C-SC recorded a season high 51 kills with a season-low 12 attack errors in the match. Matt Reese had a match-high 45 set assists.

Defensively, Malachi Gnade totaled 13 digs, to go along with his nine kills, while Cikeng Lee garnered 10 digs to lead the back line. Up front, the Wildcats registered 11 team blocks with Zach Kowalewicz getting six block assists and Davis garnering five block assists. 

C-SC is scheduled to complete its trip to the Chicago area on Saturday, Feb. 22, with a match against Governors State University. First serve for that match is slated for 2 p.m.
