Wildcats Show Fight in Four Set Loss to No. 8 Mount Mercy

The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team showed some fight in its Heart of America Athletic Conference match with eight-ranked Mount Mercy University at Charles Field House Friday night.

The Wildcats, who are playing their final two home matches of the year this weekend, started slow against the Mustangs; however, found a rhythm in set two and gave the Mustangs all they could handle in a 25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20 loss. 

Clyde Harold came off the bench midway through the first set and ended up leading the Wildcats in kills with 13. He attempted a team-high 32 attacks and had three errors for .312 hitting percentage.

Rio Victor also reached double figures in terminations with 10 kills.  Henry Reeves just fell short of double digit kills, finishing with nine terminations. Those three players registered 31 of the Wildcats' 41 kills in the match.

Matt Reese dished out a team-high 22 set assists while lone senior Owen Randle totaled 14 assists off the bench. Reeves had the only service ace for the Wildcats.

Defensively, the Wildcats garnered two solo blocks and 13 assisted blocks in the match. Reese totaled five blocks  while Zach Kowalewicz and Kennedy Chambers had three blocks each.  Kelly Baccay led the back row with 10 digs with Randle gathering eight digs.

C-SC is scheduled to play its final home match of the season Saturday, April 5, against Clarke University at Charles Field House. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
