Logan Lucas Earns Heart Cross Country Runner of the Week Accolade

Culver-Stockton College runner Logan Lucas has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance Saturday at the Luther College All-American Invitational in Decorah, Iowa.

Lucas, a junior transfer from Monroe City, Mo. (Monroe City HS | Iowa Wesleyan University), broke C-SC's school record in the four-mile run by over three minutes in finishing 14th in the 113-runner field. Lucas completed the circuit in 21:37.3, smashing the old mark of 24:40.0 set by Landon Ayers in 2017. In addition, Lucas' time also helped the Wildcats establish a team record in the four mile run with a time of 2:03:53.

It was the second time in as many weeks that Lucas has set a new standard for the men's cross country team. At the Mount Mercy Corridor Clash Sept. 1, Lucas set the school record in the five kilometer distance with a time of 16:22.1, breaking the previous mark of 18:53 set by Miguel Obregon in 2015.

The Wildcat runners are scheduled to race Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Grand View Viking Invitational which is being held at the Des Moines Area Community College Cross Country Course in Ankeny, Iowa. The women are slated to run at 10:30 a.m. with the men to follow at 11:15 a.m.
