Lucas Records Top 10 Finish at Viking Invitational

The Culver-Stockton College men's cross country team competed in the Grand View Viking Invitational at the Des Moines Area Community College Cross Country Course in Ankeny, Iowa, Saturday morning.

Junior Logan Lucas continued his fine season with a sixth place finish among the 68 runners competing in the event. Lucas ran the second best time in school history for 8-kilometers, registering a time of 27:45.3. The school record is 26:10.3 by Chris Lanhum in 2008. Lucas averaged 5:35 per mile.

Junior Kile Dowd finished 35th overall with a time of 30:33.4, which is the ninth highest time for the 8-kilometer distance in program history. Sophomore Gannon McNamee placed 37th overall with a time of 30:58.3, while freshman Chase Lake finished 64th overall with a time of 37:23.0. With only four runners, no team time was recorded.

The Wildcats are slated to return to action in two weeks, Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Hannibal-LaGrange University Invitational in Hannibal, Mo. The men's race is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m.
