Wildcats Place Fifth in St. L:ouis Cross Country Classic; Lucas Registers Fourth Top 10 Finish

Logan Lucas earned a top ten finish to help the Culver-Stockton College men's cross country team place fifth in the St. Louis Cross Country Invitational at Willmore Park in St. Louis, Mo., Saturday morning.

Lucas, who has now recorded top 10 finishes in his last four races, finished the 8-kilometer course in a time of 27:04.4 to place sixth overall among the 74 runners competing in the race. He finished one minute, 17 seconds behind the race winner.

Lucas' mark helped the Wildcats finish with a team time of 2:31.:37 and record 145 points, which was good for fifth in the team competition. Blue Mountain (Miss.) won the event with 53 points and a time of 2:18:16.

Kile Dowd and Gannon McNamee finished 32nd and 33rd, respectively, registering 27 and 28 points for the Wildcats. Dowd finished in a time of 29:59.0, narrowly finishing ahead of McNamee, who ended in a time of 29:59.8.

Kenny Tucker returned to action this week after sitting out last week as a precaution due to the soggy course conditions at Indian Hills. Tucker finished 46th overall with a time of 31:26.9. Jabez Rivers concluded the circuit in a time of 33:07.1 to place 54th overall.

Chase Lake and Blake Thompson also competed for the Wildcats in the event, placing 64th and 69th overall. Lake finished in a time of 34:41.6, while Thompson ended in a time of 38:00.3.

The Wildcats will compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks at Seminole Valley Trail in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The men's race is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.
