Lucas, Men's Cross Country Set School Marks

Logan Lucas broke his own school record and his Culver-Stockton teammates set a new school record in a five-kilometer race to highlight the men's opening cross country race at the Great River Open in Canton, Mo.

Lucas, who set the school mark of 16:38.1 last season during the season-opening Corridor Clash at Mount Mercy University, topped that mark by 38 seconds and finished second overall with a time of 15:44.1

The Lucas performance propelled the Wildcats to a school team record time of 1:28:35, an average of 17:43 minutes. The previous mark was 1:32.03 set last season at the Corridor Clash.

Gannon McNamee turned in a splendid performance in finishing sixth overall with a time of 17:20.9, averaging a 5:35 per mile. Jalian Reynaga finished seventh overall with a time of 17:38.3.

Kile Dowd was 13th overall with a time of 18:25.9, while Chase Lake was 14th overall with a time of 19:26.4. Julian Garza placed 17th overall with a time of 19:28.8 and Kenny Tucker was 19th at 19:44.8. 

Jabez Rivers and Blake Thompson finished 20th and 21st, respectively, with Rivers registering a time of 21:25.0 and Blake finishing in 25:41.4. Drew Mallett completed the Wildcat grouping with a 25th place finish in a time of 23:10.9.

The Wildcats are slated to run again next Friday, Sept. 6, at the Dutch Cross Country Invitational at Central College in Pella, Iowa. The menace scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
