
Lucas Finishes Second at Sherrill Fall Classic with Record Run
Logan Lucas became the first Wildcat cross country runner to break 26 minutes at the 8-kilometer distance Saturday during the running of the Mikayla Sherrill Fall Classic hosted by Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis Saturday morning.
Lucas, who set the school record of 26:01 in the 8k last season, finished second overall Saturday with a time of 25:52.2. That mark helped the Wildcats finish with a team time of 2:28:53 which was third-best in the seven team field. Maryville (Mo.) won the event in a time of 2:18:57.
Gannon McNamee finished 21st overall in a time of 28:55.6 while Jailan Reynaga placed 33rd overall in a time of 30:45.6. Despite taking a wrong turn on the course, Kile Dowd finished 38th overall with a time of 31:11.7.
Chase Lake finished 44th overall with a time of 32:07.9 while Blake Thompson set a personal best at this distance and placed 47th overall with mark of 33:42.6.
The Wildcats are off until the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships which are set for Saturday, Nov. 9, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m.
