Guilfoyle's Two-hitter Helps Softball Earn First Victory

The Culver-Stockton softball team posted its first victory of the season Sunday with a game two victory over Augustana (Ill.) at the Ambrose Dome in Davenport, Iowa.

The Wildcats collected eight hits and were aided by six Viking errors in picking up a 10-0 victory in the second game of a doubleheader. C-SC was limited to three hits in an 8-0 loss in the opener.

Kenzie Guilfoyle earned the shutout victory in the circle, allowing just two hits in the game. She walked one and struck out six for her first collegiate victory.

Offensively, Baylee Schneider led the attack with three hits, including two doubles, and a run batted in. Myah Briese added a three-run double, while Kataleena Hunt, Brylee Throgmorton, Sophia Ashby and Selina Guzman all had one RBI each. Throgmorton and Allie Thompson scored two run each.

In the opener, Guzman recorded two of the Wildcats' three hits in the game. Hailey McGinty registered the other hit.

The Wildcats (1-3) is scheduled to host Briar Cliff (Iowa) this Sunday, Feb. 26, for their home opener at Himsl Field. The first game is slated to start at 12 p.m.
