Softball Bangs Out 21 Hits in Doubleheader Sweep over Park

The Culver-Stockton softball team posted a Heart of America Athletic Conference sweep over Park University at the Park Softball Complex in Parkville, Mo., Saturday afternoon.

Sophia Ashby hit two solo home runs and Katelyn Felt went 3-for-3 to lead the Wildcats to a 7-2 victory in the first game. In the nightcap, a grand slam home run but Alle Thompson highlighted an 8-4 C-SC victory.

Ashby and Felt collected three hits and registered two runs batted in each to lead 11-hit attack for the Wildcats. Kataleena Hunt also had a multiple hit game, ending 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and a RBI.

Emma Roseberry picked up her second straight victory in the circle to improve to 5-6 overall. Roseberry scattered six hits, walked no one and struck out four.

In game two, C-SC banged out 10 more hits, getting two hits each from Hunt, Brylee Throgmorton and Baylee Schneider. Hunt added two doubles to go along with her solo home run in game one.

Thompson's grand slam highlighted a six-run third inning that turned a 1-0 C-SC deficit to a 6-1 Wildcat lead.

Makayla Slavik pitched the first five innings, allowing four runs (2 earned) and seven hits. She walked one and struck out four to earn her third victory of the year.

After the Pirates closed to within 6-4 in the fifth inning, Roseberry relieved Slavik to start the sixth inning and hurled two hitless innings, striking out two, to earn her first save.

C-SC, now 10-18 overall and 3-5 in the Heart, is scheduled to play another doubleheader Sunday, April 3, at Peru State College in Peru, Neb. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
