Softball Splits Road Doubleheader at Peru State

The Culver-Stockton softball team split a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader at Peru State College Sunday afternoon in Peru, Neb.

The Wildcats ran their winning streak to five games with a 2-0 victory in the opener behind the pitching of Emma Roseberry and the hitting of Alle Thompson.

In the nightcap, C-SC committed six errors  and saw its winning streak snapped with a 9-4 loss to the Bobcats.

In the first game, Roseberry evened her record at 6-6 with a four-hit, complete-game shutout. Roseberry walked two and struck out five. It was Roseberry's second shutout of the season.

Thompson provided the offense for Roseberry and the Wildcats, hitting a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie. Katelyn Felt scored in front of Thompson. It was the second straight day Thompson had homered.

Peru State scored five unearned runs in the second inning to take control of game two. The Bobcats hammered out five hits and was helped by two Wildcat errors.

Seven different players recorded hits for the Wildcats with Sophia Ashby and Rosa Anquiano collecting RBI's.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader at Missouri Baptist University this Tuesday, April 4, in St. Louis, Mo. The first pitch for game one is set for 2 p.m.
