Softball Drops Both Ends of Road Twinbill at Missouri Baptist

The Culver-Stockton softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Missouri Baptist University Tuesday afternoon in St. Louis.

The Spartans plated single runs in the first and second innings to record a 2-0 shutout victory in the opening game. In game two, Missouri Baptist jumped out to a 3-0 lead en route to a 5-1 victory.

The Wildcats (11-21) outhit the hosts 6-4 n the first game with Katelyn  Felt collecting two of the hits. 

The best chance the Wildcats has to score came in the when Felt doubled to lead off the second inning. She was sacrificed to third by Baylee Schneider before Alle Thompson hit a ball near the third base line. The Spartan third basemen made the catch, tagged Felt and threw too first to retire Thompson for a double play.

Emma Roseberry suffered the loss despite pitching a four-hitter. Roseberry struck out nine and didn't walk a batter in her six innings of work.

Despite recording four only hits i the game, C-SC couldn't take advantage of three Spartan errors even though its only run was the result of a two-out miscue.

The Wildcats get back to Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Friday, April 7, when they play at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. The first game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
