The Culver-Stockton softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Hannibal-LaGrange University, winning the opener 14-2 before falling in the nightcap 6-5 in Hannibal, Mo.

The Wildcats banged out 20 hits, including four doubles and a home run, in the five inning first game. Seven of the nine starters recorded at least one hit and four of the seven had at least three hits in the game.

Alle Thompson led the offense by going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and four runs batted in. Sophia Ashby was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a solo home run.

Kataleena Hunt and Baylee Schneider each went 3-for-4 in the game. Hunt scored three runs and Schneider had two runs batted in.

Emma Roseberry and Makayla Slavik combined for an eight-hitter and two runs. Roseberry started and pitched three shutout innings, striking out six while allowing three hits. Slavik allowed two runs (one earned), scattering five hits.

In the second game, C-SC scored two runs in the top of the first inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Thompson and Rosa Anquiano

HLGU tied the game in the bottom of the first and then scored three more runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead.

The Wildcats got one run back and pulled to within 5-3 in the fifth inning thanks to two Trojan errors.

C-SC tied the game in the sixth inning on a run-scoring double by Felt and a RBI single by Anquiano.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh, HLGU loaded the bases with a walk and a hit batter with one out. A second walk allowed the winning runs to score and stop the C-SC win streak at three games.

The Wildcats return to league play this Saturday, April 22, with a twinbill at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
