The Culver-Stockton College softball team was swept by Park University in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader at Himsl Field Saturday afternoon in Canton, Mo.

The Wildcats committed three errors and managed just four hits in a 4-1 loss in the opening game of the twinbill. In the nightcap, the Pirates banged out 13 hits, including a pair of home runs to give C-SC a 7-2 loss.

The twin setbacks drop the Wildcats to 10-24 overall and 1-9 in the Heart with a doubleheader against Peru State scheduled for Monday, April 8. Game time for the first game is 2 p.m. at Himsl Field.

The Wildcats fell behind early in the opening game loss, allowing a two-run homer in the top of the first inning.

C-SC didn't record its first hit until a bunt single in the fifth inning by Haley Gedros put runners at first and second with none out. Sophia Ashby bunted the runners to second and third before Brylee Throgmorton hit a pop up to the third baseman who dropped it, allowing Selina Guzman to score.

The Pirates added an insurance run in the sixth and seventh off of Wildcat starter Penny Ruiz to account for the final score. Ruiz went the distance, scattering four hits, walking two and striking out four.

In game two, Rosa Anguiano's solo home run in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1. However, Park plated two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take a commanding 7-1 lead. C-SC got a sacrifice fly from Payton Todd in the seventh inning for their second run.
