
Softball Falls to Doane, Dordt at Weekend Classic
The Culver-Stockton softball team lost a pair of games during the second day of the Dordt Softball Classic at the American State Bank Sports Complex Saturday nightmin Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Wildcats committed five errors in a 4-2 loss to Doane (Neb.) to start the day, and then collected four hits in a 2-1 extra inning loss to host Dordt (Iowa) Saturday night.
In the game against Doane, the Wildcat pitcher Lauren Sinks, Ella White and Kaylee Yost did not allow an earned run thanks to the five fielding miscues by C-SC. The Tigers scored a singe run in the second inning, two more in the fourth and one in the sixth.
C-SC its two runs in the fifth inning thanks to a two-run double by Shelby Daniels. Tiffany Lepic and Hannah Dillbeck scored on the play. Daniels and Lauren Waller collected two hits each to lead the C-SC five-hit attack.
In the nightcap against Dordt, the Wildcats trailed 1-0 in the third inning when Cierra Bush singled with two out, moved to second on a single by Ryley Pecina and scored on a RBI single by Kataleena Hunt. Pecina was the only Wildcat to record a multiple hit game, recording two safeties in the game.
C-SC is slated to finish its opening weekend trip with a doubleheader against Concordia (Neb.) on Sunday, Feb. 2. The first game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
