Softball Records Road Sweep at Hannibal-LaGrange
The Culver-Stockton College softball team earned its first doubleheader sweep of the season Saturday with a pair of victories over Hannibal-LaGrange University at the Veterans Sports Complex in Hannibal, Mo.
The Wildcats and Trojans battled for a full seven innings in the opening game with the Wildcats plating three runs in the top of the seventh to break a 7-7 tie and eventually win 10-7. In the nightcap, C-SC got an excellent pitching performance from Kaylee Yost in an 8-0 victory.
Yost was outstanding in the second game, earning her second victory of the season. Yost scattered three hits, struck out 11 and did not walk a batter.
Yost was aided offensively by leadoff hitter Lacey Stamper, who went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in. Kataleena Hunt added three hits, while Payton Todd and Myah Briese had two hits each. Briese also drove in two run while Todd also had a run batted in.
In the first game, Cierra Bush was the offensive stalwart for the Wildcats, collecting four hits and three RBI to lead the 17-hit attack. Tiffany Lepic added three hits, while Hunt, Briese, Ryley Pecina and Shelby Daniels all had two hits apiece.
The Wildcats are scheduled to host Columbia College this Tuesday, March 18, art Himsl Field. The first game is slated for 1 p.m.
