
Offense Remains Stagnant as Softball Drops Heart Doubleheader
The Culver-Stockton softball team collected just six hits in a doubleheader loss to Park University to begin Heart of America Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in Parkville, Mo.
The Wildcats recorded three hits in a 6-0 loss in the first game and then came back in game two and registered just three singles in a 2-0 setback in the nightcap.
Park scored both of its runs in second game in the fourth inning off of C-SC pitcher Penny Ruiz. Ruiz allowed eight hits, walked one and struck out over her is inning of work. Kataleena Hunt and Cierra Bush had the only hits for the Wildcats.
In the first game, the Pirates jumped out in front with three runs in the first inning and then added single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings to insure the victory.
Shelby Daniels collected two of the three hits for the Wildcats to account for the C-SC offensive production. Payton Todd recorded the other hit for C-SC.
The Wildcats are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 23, for another Heart of America Athletic Conference twinbill at Peru State College in Peru, Neb. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
