Wildcat Shooters Compete at Spring Lindenwood Open

The Culver-Stockton College shotgun sports team participated in the Lindenwood Spring Open against 10 other intercollegiate schools Feb. 24-25 in Bridgeton, Mo.

The Wildcats registered a high overall point total of 976 targets hit during he competition and finished 10th among the 10 four-year and two-year colleges and universities competing. Lindenwood won it own event with 1,428 targets hit.

Individually, the top Wildcat shooters were James Stutheit and Aden Dumcum, who each recorded a high overall total of 247 in the three disciplines of trap, skeet and sporting clays. Stutheit hit 79 targets in the trap, 96 in skeet and 72 in sporting clays, while Dumcum hit 95 targets in the trap competition, 81 in the skeet and 71 in the sporting clays.

Will Owen collected 244 targets over the weekend with the best score coming in the skeet with 89 targets collected. Owen hit 82 targets in trap and 73 targets in sporting clays.

Lucas Wellman hit 238 targets over the weekend. Wellman started off with 91 targets in trap, 89 targets in skeet before falling off to 58 targets in sporting clays.

The Wildcats are back in action this weekend, March 2-3 at the Spring Central Midwest Championships in Columbia, Mo.
