Women's Basketball Wins Big at HLGU

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team posted its second 30-point victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University in the last seven days with an 85-52 victory Saturday afternoon at Porter Gymnasium in Hannibal, Mo.

The Wildcats, who routed the Trojans 84-52 on Nov. 5 in the final game of the Atrium Hotel Classic at Charles Field House, didn't give HLGU a chance Saturday, busting out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter and a 45-33 lead at the intermission. C-SC finished its business by outscoring the hosts 40-19 in the second half.

The Wildcats were led by senior guard McKenzie Lathrom with 28 points as she drained 11 of her 15 field attempts. Lathrom was also 6-for-8 from beyond the 3-point stripe. Addison Newbon, who had 25 points in the victory at home over the Trojans, ended the game with 12 markers.

The Wildcats shot 50 percent from the field, connecting on 34 of their 68 attempts, and was 10 for 23 from the 3-point line for 43.5 percent. The Wildcats limited HLGU to 35 percent shooting and forced 22 Trojans turnovers which led to a 30-5 advantage in points off miscues.

C-SC, now 3-0 overall, is scheduled to host Iowa Wesleyan University this Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Charles Field House. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
