Wildcats Answers Loss with Dominating Victory over Peru State

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team followed a disappointing loss to Missouri Valley College Thursday night with a dominating performance against Peru State College Saturday afternoon at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats shot 51 percent from the field, including 56 percent from the 3-point stripe, in defeating the Bobcats 94-54 to improve to 14-6 overall and 9-5 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

C-SC, which scored a season 95 points against Peru State earlier this season in a 95-83 victory at Peru, led 19-8 after one quarter and 38-17 at halftime. The Wildcats exploded for 30 points in the third quarter and led 68-28 heading to the fourth quarter.

Freshman Nevaiah Bell-Tenner led four Wildcat players in double figures with a career-high 22 points off the bench. Bell-Tenner was 8-for-10 from the field, including making all three 3-point attempts, and 3-for-5 from the foul line. She also had a team-high three steals.

Aaliyah Ortiz and Avery Oetting tallied 17 points each, while McKenzie Lathrom added 12 markers in the game. Ortiz led the Wildcats with eight rebounds and three assists.

C-SC is back in action this Wednesday, Jan. 25, with a conference game at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Penn Gymnasium.
