Lathrom Drains Record-Setting Nine Treys as Wildcats Roll Over Graceland

It was a record-breaking night for the Culver-Stockton women's basketball team in a 93-65 victory over Graceland University at Charles Field House.

Senior guard McKenzie Lathrom scored a career-high 37 points, draining a school-record nine 3-pointers in the process, to lead the Wildcat attack.

Lathrom, who also had 10 rebounds and five assists, broke the previous mark of eight triples by Lacey Clark which was set on Feb. 7, 2018, against Missouri Valley College.

As a team the Wildcats recorded 13 treys  on 33 attempts in the game. The 13 3-pointers ties the school record, which was set against Hannibal-LaGrange University on Nov. 2, 2018, while the 33 attempts set a new record, surpassing the previous mark of 29 against Mount Mercy on Feb. 19, 2020.

Three other players reached double figures in scoring to completent Lathrom's night. Katie Webb registered 19 points on 9-11 shooting, while Avery Oetting and Aaliyah Ortiz each garnered 12 points in the game. 

The Wildcats bolted to a 30-13 lead after one quarter; however, the Yellowjackets closed to within 51-38 by halftime. But C-SC put the game away with a big third quarter, outscoring the visitors 27-12 in the period to take a 78-50 lead to the final 10 minutes.

The Wildcats, now 17-10 overall and 12-9 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, is slated to play their regular season finale this Saturday, Feb. 18, at Charles Field House against Benedictine College. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
