Wildcats Limited to Season Low 39 Points in Home Loss to Grand View

The Culver-Stockton College women's basketball team was held to a season-low 39 points in a 56-39 loss to No. 23 Grand View University Saturday afternoon at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats led 12-9 after one period but the Vikings limited the hosts to just two field goals and outscored them 17-4 in the second quarter to build a 26-16 halftime advantage.

Grand View continued their onslaught at the beginning of the third quarter and doubled up the Wildcats 24-12 to take a 50-28 lead to the final 10 minutes.

For the second straight game the Wildcats made just one 3-point field goal, going 1-for-15 from beyond the arc. C-SC also made and attempted season lows in free throws, making four out of six attempts.

Defensively, the Wildcats held the Vikings 32 percent shooting from the field, including 15 percent (5-33) from the 3-point arc.

The Wildcats forced 13 turnovers but was only allowed to take advantage by score just four points. Meanwhile, the Vikings turned the Wildcats over 14 times and registered 16 points off those miscues.

Katie Webb was the only Wildcat to reach double figures, netting 10 points in the game. Webb also led the Wildcats with seven rebounds. Aaliyah Ortiz came off the bench and dished out four assists and recorded four steals.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Wildcats as they are slated to host the defending national champion and fourth-ranked Clarke University this Wednesday, Dec. 13. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Charles Field House.
