Women's Bowing Finishes Fifth at Heart Bowling Championships

The Culver-Stockton College women's bowling team finished fifth during bracket play at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships at Statesmen Lanes in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The Wildcats qualified fourth among the six teams competing in the tournament Saturday with a score of 4,128 pins after 24 baker games. C-SC had high baker sets of 764 and 699 and low baker sets of 605 and 671.

On Sunday, the Wildcats opened bracket play against fifth seeded Peru State, which qualified with 4,099 total pins.

The best-of-five series went the distance with the dropping the first two games 176-152 and 154-119. However, C-SC rallied for force a winner-take-all game with a 224-194 victory in game three and a 173-120 victory in game four.

But the Wildcats ran out of gas in the fifth game, falling to the Bobcats 149-133 to drop into the consolation bracket.

C-SC faced third-seeded Grand View in a loser's bracket match and fell to the Vikings three games to two.

The two teams split the first two game with the Vikings winning the opener 194-150 and the Wildcats squaring the series with a 196-190 victory in game two.

Grand View captured the third game 215-131, but the Wildcats responded with a 186-167 victory in game four to force a fifth and final game. In that game, the Vikings eliminated the Wildcats with a 204-138 victory.
