Moore Wins Leatherneck Classic; Wildcats Places 12th Overall

Rachel Moore earned a first-place finish and claimed her third all-tournament team accolade Saturday and Sunday at the 23rd Annual Leatherneck Classic held at Highland Park Bowl in Moline, Ill.

Moore claimed 1,084 total pins in five team games to earn the top spot individually by 44 pins. Moore averaged 216.8 pins per game. She started slowly with games of 191 and 152 in the first two games; however, finished strong with games of 231, 246 and 264.

Moore's performance helped the Wildcats finish 12th in the 33-team field with 7,123 total pins for the tournament. C-SC sat fifth with 4,493 total pins after a strong first day in the team games. However, the Wildcats struggled the second day in the baker games, claiming 2,630 pins, an average of 164.4 pins, in 16 baker games.

Moore wasn't alone in the strong play for the Wildcats. Jersey Lessenger finished 13th overall with 974 total pins and an average of 196. Lessenger rolled games of 200, 210 and 242 among her five games. Madi Shontz just missed a top 25 finish, placing 26th overall with 939 total pins. Shontz, who had a hogh game of 199, averaged 187.9 pins per game.

The Wildcats will try to keep the momentum going this weekend, Nov. 18-19, at the NAIA Invitational in Joliet, Ill. The event will take place at Town and Country Lanes.
