Women's Bowling Places Seventh at NAIA Invitational; Moore Registers Fourth Top Five Finish

The Culver-Stockton College women's bowling team qualified for bracket play with a seventh place finish at the NAIA Invitational in Joliet, Ill., over the weekend.

The Wildcats registered 7,945 total pins in the five team games and baker 20 games to qualify seventh in the eight team final bracket. C-SC 4,462 pins in the five team games for an average of 892.4, and 3,483 pins in the 20 baker games for an average of 174.2.

In the quarterfinal match, the Wildcats faced the University of St. Francis and was eliminated in three games of the best-of-5 series. C-SC lost the first game 182-177, the second game 223-192, and the final game 164-159.

Individually, Rachel Moore garnered another top five finish, placing fifth in a field of 112 bowlers, with a final score of 1,085. Moore averaged 217 in the five games, rolling scores of 248, 224, 207, 213 and 192. It was Moore's fourth top five finish of the season.

Jersey Lessenger also bowled well on Saturday, garnering an average of 190.8 pins per game. After a slow start with a 156 game in the opener, Lessenger bounced back with games of 236, 193, 177 and 192 to finish with 954 total pins.

Jasmine Saunders 33rd overall, totaling 879 pins in the five games, an average of 175.8, while Madi Shontz was 41st overall with 827 total pins, or an average of 165.4. Rilee Allen completed the Wildcat fivesome with a 56th place finish, garnering 717 pins for an average of 143.4.

The Wildcats are off until the weekend of Jan. 13-14 when they resume play at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Classic in Addison, Ill. The event will be competed at the Stardust Bowl.
