Women's Bowling Begins New Year with 2nd Place Finish at Clarke Invitational

The Culver-Stockton College women's bowling team began the new year with a second place finish at the Clarke Invitational last weekend in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Wildcats registered 7,107 total pins over the two-day event, finishing 501 pins behind Ottawa University in the team competition. C-SC garnered 4,205 pins in five team games on Saturday, and 2.902 pins on the baker games on Sunday. The Wildcats qualified second for match play but fell to Columbia College in the semifinals.

Individually, Rachel Moore earned her fifth all-tournament team of the season with a third place finish overall. Moore totaled 949 total pins in five games, an average of 189.8 pins per game. Jasmine Saunders recorded a top 10 finish, placing 10th overall with 888 total pins. Saunders averaged 177.6 pins per game.

Madi Shontz and Jersey Lessenger registered top 20 finishes with Shontz placing 14th overall and Lessenger finishing 16th overall. Shontz averaged 170.8 pins per game, while Lessenger garnered 165.4 pins per game. Rilee Allen was the fifth and final member of the team to participate, placing 24th overall with a total of 687 pins.

The Wildcats return to action Feb. 3-4 at the NAIA West Regional in Lawrence, Kan. The tournament is being held at Royal Crest Lanes.
