Women's Bowling Places Sixth Both Days behind Moore's Top Five Finishes
Rachel Moore recorded two top five finishes in the two-day NAIA West Regional at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kan., last weekend. The Wildcats finished sixth as a team each day.
Moore, who has seven top five finishes this season, finished second among the 135 bowlers competing in the event Saturday. In fact, Moore tied for the highest pin total with 1095 in five games, averaging 219 pins per game, with Baker's Kinsey Miller.
On Sunday, the bowlers rolled seven games and Moore finished fifth overall among the 136 bowlers competing in the event with 1326 total pins, an average of 189.4 pins per game.
In the team competition, C-SC placed sixth among 17 teams Saturday with 6665 total pins. The Wildcats registered 4631 pins in five team games and 2034 pins in 12 baker games. The Wildcats averaged 926 pins in the five team games, rolling a high of 1010 in the first game. In baker games, C-SC averaged 169.5 pins per game.
Jersey Lessenger and Jasmine Saunders garnered top 25 finishes with Lessenger placing 12th overall and Saunders landing at 24th overall. Lessenger rolled a 967 series with a high game of 222. She averaged 193.4 pins per game. Saunders rolled a 928 series with an average of 185.6 pins per game. Saunders had a high game of 214.
On Sunday, the format was changed to team games only with each team rolling seven games on the day. The Wildcats placed sixth overall with 5879 total pins, averaging 839.9 pins per game. They rolled a high game of 886.
Saunders joined Moore with a top 20 finish, placing 19th overall. Saunders rolled 1241 series in seven games, averaging 117.3 pins per game. She rolled a high game of 209. Lessenger finished 24th overall Sunday, totaling 1198 total pins, for an average of 171.4 per game.
The Wildcats are slated to compete in the Columbia 300 Hoosiers Classic this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10-11, at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind.
