Saunders Records Top 20 Finish; Wildcats Place 18th at Hoosier Classic

The Culver-Stockton College women's bowling team finished 18th in the 55th Annual Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind., over the weekend.

The Wildcats totaled 8302 pins overall, including 5602 pins in the six team games, to finish just ahead of Marian (Ind.). After rolling less than 900 in each of the first three games, C-SC broke out with a 1045 game in the fourth game. On Sunday, the Wildcats recorded 2750 pins in 15 baker games, averaging 183.3 pins per game. Pikeville (Ky.) won the event with 9378 total pins in a field of 66 teams.

Jasmine Saunders was the top finisher for the Wildcats with a six-game total of 1268. Saunders, who averaged 211.3 pins per game, had three games of 200 or more pins, including a high game of 247.

Madi Shontz finished 58th in a field of 410 players who bowled at least one game in the tournament. Shontz also registered three games of 200 or more pins with her high being 231. She also had a 225 and a 223 game.

Rachel Moore, Jersey Lessenger and Rilee Allen also competed for the Wildcats. Moore finished 104th overall with 1132 total pins while Lessenger was 178th overall with 1014 total pins. Allen finished 192nd with 990 total pins.    

C-SC is scheduled to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 24-25, at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kan.
