Moore Named NAIA Rookie of the Year; All-American

Culver-Stockton College freshman Rachel Moore has been named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-America bowling team as a first team selection and NAIA Rookie of the Year for her performance during the 2023-24 school year, the NAIA announced Wednesday afternoon.

Moore, of Keokuk, Iowa (Keokuk HS), competed in 10 events this season, earning all-tournament team honors in seven events for finishing in the top five overall. Among those seven all-tournament team honors, Moore captured two events, winning the Leatherneck Classic Nov. 11-12 and the NAIA West Region Classic Feb. 3. Moore registered seven top 10 finishes and eight top 25 finishes, averaging 200.29 pins per game. Moore totaled 11,016 pins in 55 games this season. She ranked 20th among all collegiate players ranked by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).

In addition, Moore was selected as the Rookie of the Year. She was fourth nationally in individual scoring average of 19.831 in 852 frames, sixth in the category for traditional format play and eighth in baker format. For individual frame fill percentage in 852 frames, she had a percentage of 84.7 with is third overall, sixth when broken out by traditional format and ninth in baker format. She was ninth in individual strike percentage with 45.8% and fourth in individual single pin spare percentage at 91.8%. Her average first ball pin fall was 8.930 which was ninth in the country. 

Earlier this month, Moore was named Newcomer of the Year in the Heart of America Athletic Conference as well as earning first team all-conference honors. Moore competed in the Intercollegiate Individual Sectional qualifier in Addison, Ill., March 8 and finished 41st among the 219 bowlers competing. Moore is the second C-SC women's bowler to earn All-America recognition, joining Jasmine Saunders (Keokuk, Iowa / Keokuk HS) who was an honorable mention selection in 2023.

The women's bowling team qualified for the United States Bowling Congress Team Sectionals for the fourth time in program history this season. The Wildcats placed 18th at the sectional in Addison, Ill.
