Women's Golfers Improve Scores on Second Day to Place Eighth at Saints Classic

The Culver-Stockton College women's golf team improved by 29 shots from the first round to the second round to finish eighth overall in the Saints Classic hosted by Holy Cross College at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.

The Wildcat fivesome carded a tam score of 407 on Monday before rebounding to shoot 378 in the second round Tuesday to finish the tournament with a total of 785. Indiana Wesleyan won the event with a team total of 615.

Individually, Emily Grodjesk led the Wildcat contingent with a 38th place finish. Grodjesk struggled the first day, shooting a 29-over 100 but rebounded nicely the second day to card an 87 for a total of 45-over 187.

In fact, all five Wildcat players bettered their scores from the first round to the second round. Hannah Matrisch finished 41st overall with a score of 53-over 195 (102-93), while Kyndall Crim shot 55-over 197 (101-96). Allie Hayden carded a 64-over 206 (104-102), and Gabby Beffa placed 50th overall with a score of 106-over 248 (127-121).

The Wildcats are scheduled to host the Wildcat Classic this Sunday and Monday, Oct. 15-16 at Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy, Ill.
