Women's Golfers Conclude Fall Portion of Schedule at Sand Creek Invitational

The Culver-Stockton College women's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a sixth place finish in the eight team field at the Sand Creek Intercollegiate Invitational in Newton, Kan.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be a two-day, 36-hole tournament, but was shortened to one day and 36 holes due to storms in the forecast for Tuesday. The Wildcats finished one stroke behind fifth-place Ottawa (Kan.). C-SC finished ahead of Crowder (Kan.) and Missouri Baptist. 

The tournament was competed at Sand Creek Station Golf Course and the Wildcats ended with a two-round score of 727 (366-361). The course featured a 6168-yard, par 72 layout. 

Emily Grodjesk and Hannah Matrisch led the Wildcats with scores of 176 and 179, respectively. Grodjesk fired an 87 in the first round, followed by an 89 in the second round, while Matrisch tallied a 92 in the first round and an 87 in the second round. Allie Hayden shot a 184 (90-94) and Kyndall Crim concluded with a 188 (97-91. Sara Gruenewald completed the Wildcat scoring with a 36-hole total of 217 (105-112).

The Wildcats head into winter break and will prepare for the spring portion of the season, which will begin in early March.
