Lacrosse Can't Overcome First Half Blitz by Cornell

Cornell College jumped out to a 12-0 halftime lead and easily defeated the Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team 18-2 in a non-conference game in Mount Vernon, Iowa, Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams scored eight goals in the first quarter and four more in the second quarter while outshooting the Wildcats 19-0 in the opening half. C-SC didn't record its first shot until the third quarter and was outshot 29-3 overall.

The Wildcats posted one goal in the third quarter and one goal in the fourth quarter of the game. Jessica Hornberger notched C-SC's first goal with an assist going to Karson Jackson. Lauren Grebing tallied the Wildcats other goal with an assist from Bella Olson.

The Wildcats (2-3) are slated to begin Heart of America Athletic Conference action this Saturday, March 23, against ninth-ranked Benedictine College. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Atchison, Kan.
