Quarles Carries Wildcats to First Heart Victory

The Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team earned its first Heart of America Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 12-5 victory over William Penn University Saturday morning at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

The victory improves the Wildcats to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the Heart while the Statesmen fall to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the Heart.

Kaelin Quarles was the main offensive weapon for the Wildcats, netting seven goals and adding an assist for eight total points. It is the second time this season she has scored seven goals in a game.

Lauren Grebing contributed two goals and an assist while Jessica Hornberger added a goal and an assist. Rylie Boyce and Aaliyah Ortiz notched the Wildcats' other two goals. Bella Olson registered two assists in the game for C-SC, which outshot the Statesmen 32-20.

Jillian Vervynck was a wall in the Wildcat net, making 10 saves on 15 shots on goal. Anaya Lopez caused three turnovers and was stellar in the field with eight ground balls. 

The Wildcats are slated to play a non-conference game this Tuesday, April 2, at Missouri Baptist University in St.Louis, Mo. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
