Lopez, Quarles Net Two Goals Each in Season-ending Loss to St. Ambrose

The Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team had its season ended with a 15-4 loss to Saint Ambrose University in the semifinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon at the St. Vincent Athletic Complex in Davenport, Iowa.

The Wildcats, who had to play a player down for the second straight game due to injuries, held their own throughout the match but was outshot 32-18 in the game. C-SC put 12 of its 18 shots on goal but could only get four past the SAU goalie.

Anaya Lopez scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Wildcat offense. Lopez also picked up a team-best seven ground balls and tied  for team honors with three caused turnovers along with Katie De Craene

Kaelin Quarles added the other two goals for the Wildcats, finishing her freshman season with a school record 45 goals and 58 points. Quarles and Lopez each controlled four draws for the Wildcats, who held a 12-9 edge in draw controls in the match.

The Bees led 7-1 halftime and 12-2 after three quarters. The Wildcats and Bees combined for 59 turnovers in the match with the Wildcats committing 30 miscues. SAU held a 28-22 advantage on ground balls, while C-SC was 14-for-27 on clears and the Bees were 17-for-29 on clears.

C-SC concludes the season with a 6-7 overall record, matching the most victories in a season in program history, which was set last season. The Wildcats also qualified for the postseason for the fourth consecutive season.
