
Women's Lacrosse Wins Heart Opener behind Quarles' Record Day
Kaelin Quarles broke the single-game record for goals and points scored in the Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team's 20-10 Heart of America Athletic Conference 20-10 victory over Missouri Valley College Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Mo.
Quarles registered 10 goals and three assists in the match to lead the Wildcats, who improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Heart.
The previous record for goals in a game was eight, shared by Quarles in a game against Mount Mercy last season, and Melanie Sanchez against St. Mary (Kan.) on March 23, 2023. The 13 total points in a single game broke the previous mark of 11 set by Sanchez in the same game that she set the goals mark.
Quarles recorded her 10 goals on 13 overall shots, including all 10 on goal. Quarles scored six of her goals in the first half as the Wildcats built a 10-6 lead after 30 minutes. Quarles also led the Wildcats with seven draw controls and three ground balls.
Complementing Quarles' day was Addison Holm who collected five goals and matching Quarles with three assists. Kaleigh Poe added three assists and one assist, while Mia Naughton and Tennyson Rohman added one goal each. Bella Olson garnered two assists while Rohman and Katie Poos had one assist each.
Goalkeeper Victoria Acord faced 27 total shots, including 20 shots on goal, making 10 saves, to earn the victory in net.
The Wildcats (2-1) are set to host is home opener on Friday, Feb. 28, when they host St. Thomas (Fla.) at Ellison Poulton Stadium. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
