Women's Soccer Second Straight Shutout with Victory over Stephens

The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team registered its third clean sheet in four games with a 4-0 victory over Stephens College Wednesday night at Battle High School in Columbia, Mo.

The Wildcat defense and goalkeeper Mackenzie Frizzell limited the Stars to five overall shots, including one shot on goal. Frizzell recorded her second straight shutout this season and the eighth shutout of her career.

Offensively the Wildcats totaled 21 shots overall with seven shots in the first half and 14 attempts in the second half. C-SC placed 11 of those shots on goal. Morgan Dierks Machado and Savannah Stauffer led the Wildcats with five shots each.

Stauffer and Dierks Machado teamed up for the first goal of the game with Stauffer netting her second goal and Dierks Machado registering her first assist of the season.

Halle Jennex notched her second goal of the season in the second minute and the Wildcats were quickly out to a 2-0 lead, which C-SC took to the halftime locker room.

In the second half, the Wildcats made it 3-0 when Dierks Machado converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute. 

C-SC concluded the scoring in the 75th minute when Ellie Wiehardt, who notched her first career goal Saturday, tallied her second goal in as many games. Grace Lauman assisted on the goal.

The Wildcats (4-0) is back in action this Saturday, Sept. 9, with a neutral site game against Saint Ambrose University in Muscatine, Iowa, in the William Haag Memorial Game. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. at the Muscatine Soccer Center.
