Tuxhorn, Stauffer Net Goals in Wildcat Road Victory at William Woods

The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team scored a goal in each half and Mackenzie Frizzell registered her fifth shutout in a 2-0 non-conference victory over William Woods University Tuesday night at Firley Field in Fulton, Mo.

Maggie Tuxhorn tallied the first goal for the Wildcats just four minutes into the contest.

A pass by McKenna Little at the top of the penalty area was blocked and the ball went right to the foot of Tuxhorn who drilled it over the head of Owls goalkeeper Sierra Hahn from 30 yards out for her second goal of the season.

The score stayed that way until the 72nd minute when a pass from near midfield by Mikayla Gioia found Morgan Dierks Machado who one-timed a flick to Savannah Stauffer.

Stauffer was strong on the ball and was able to fight an Owl defender to get a shot off and past Hahn for a goal.

Frizzell and the C-SC defense, which recorded their second straight shutout, faced eight total shots, including four shots on goal, saving all of them.

The Wildcats held an 11-8 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge on corner kicks. William Woods committed 12 fouls while the Wildcats were whistled for nine fouls.

The Wildcats, now 6-3-1 overall, is scheduled to host Baker University this Saturday, Sept. 30, in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match at Ellison Poulton Stadium. Kickoff is slated ro 7:30 p.m.
