Women's Soccer Registers Third Straight Shutout in Draw with Baker

The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team registered a scoreless tie against Baker University in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match Saturday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

The draw is the second consecutive scoreless tie for the Wildcats in conference play after ending in a 0-0 push at Benedictine College last Saturday in Atchison, Kan.

The Wildcats, who were outshot 10-9 in the game, had their best scoring opportunity in the first minute of the game.

Taking the opening kickoff, C-SC forced a corner kick at the game's outset. Savannah Stauffer's sent the restart to the far post where McKenna Little's header was saved by the Baker goalkeeper. The rebound came to Halle Jennex in front but she blasted her shot high and over the crossbar.

Both teams had opportunities to score but each goalkeeper was equal to the task.

Mackenzie Frizzell made three saves to earn her sixth shutout, including her third straight, of the season. The Wildcats have seven shutouts overall this season. Baker's Jorja Martin made four saves in the game.

The Wildcats, now 6-3-2 overall and 0-2-2 in the Heart, is scheduled to host Mount Mercy University this Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Poulton Stadium. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
