Jennex Registers Two Goals as Wildcats Upend Missouri Baptist 2-1

The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 2-1 victory over Missouri Baptist University Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Field in St. Louis, Mo.

Halle Jennex scored her second and third goals of the season to help the Wildcats improve to 5-0-1 overall this season. Missouri Baptist fell to 1-5-0 overall.

Jennex notch her first goal of the game, of the unassisted variety, in the 27th minute to give the Wildcats a 1-0 halftime lead. It was just one of three shots by C-SC in the half and the only one on goal.

After the Spartans tied the game in the 57th minute, Jennex netted the game-winner 20 minutes later when she took a pass from Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez and beat the Spartan goalkeeper in the 77th minute to give the Wildcats the lead for good. The assist by Chandler-Gutierrez gives her at least one point in all six games this season.

C-SC was outshot 9-8 in the game and goalkeeper Mackenzie Frizzell was called upon to make three saves. The Wildcats did hold a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

C-SC is slated to begin Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Sept. 14, at home against Benedictine College. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Ellison Poulton Stadium.
