
Women's Soccer Falls a Goal Short at Baker
The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team suffered a 3-2 Heart of America Athletic Conference loss at Baker University Saturday night in Baldwin City, Kan.
The Wildcats registered more shots than Baker and had an overwhelming edge in corner kicks but managed just seven shots on goal. C-SC outshot the hosts 17-10 and recorded 13 of the 15 corner kicks in the game.
Baker struck first with a goal in the 21st minute of the first half but the Wildcats' McKenna Little tied it at 1-1 with her first goal of the year in the 41st minute. Rian Moore tallied her third assist on the play.
The Wildcats fell behind 2-1 in the 65th minute; however, Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez notched her team-leading 12th goal of the season 12 minutes later to square the game at 2-2.
Baker took the lead for good in the 81st minute and the Wildcats were unable to get the equalizer with a pair of shots and a corner kick.
The Wildcats (6-2-1; 1-2-0 in the Heart) are off until next Saturday, Sept. 28, when they play at 23rd-ranked Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
