Women's Soccer Pitches Shutout against Waldorf

The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team held Waldorf University without a shot in ending a five-match losing streak with a 2-0 victory Wednesday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium in Canton.

The Wildcats dominated the game with 30 shots overall, including 13 shots on goal. C-SC had 16 shots in the first half and 14 shots in the second 45 minutes.

The game was scoreless the 16th minute when Warrior goalkeeper stepped out of the penalty area while holding the ball, giving the Wildcats a free kick right at the top of box.

Freshman Rian Moore, who netted her first career goal Saturday against nationally-ranked Central Methodist, added her second career goal with a clean shot past Lucia Serrano for a 1- Wildcat lead.

The score stayed that way until the 57th minute when the Wildcats forced one of their 15 corner kicks in the game.

Desiree Hensiek started the play with a shot pass to Savannah Stauffer who sent it back to Hensiek. Hensiek sent a pass to the front of the six-yard box where McKenna Little headed it past the Warrior goalkeeper for her second goal of the year.

C-SC goalkeeper Mackenzie Frizzell and the Wildcat defense were never threatened by the Warriors and recorded their fourth shutout of the season.

The Wildcats (7-6-1) step back into conference play this Saturday, Oct. 19, with a road game at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Kickoff has been set for 2 p.m.
