Morris, Younce Hit Qualifying Standards in 3000-meter Race Walk

The Culver-Stockton College women's indoor track and field team qualified two athletes for the NAIA Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon in the Fighting Bees Invitational at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, Saturday.

Allison Morris and Faith Younce each qualified for the national meet in next month in the 3000-meter race walk. 

Morris finished first in the event with an automatic qualifying time of 16:28.76. It is the second best time in school history. Meanwhile, Younce reached a provisional qualifying time and placed second overall with a time of 17:07.98. That mark is the third best time in school history.

Another athlete having a great weekend was Shannon O'Neil, who placed second in the pentathlon and third in the 60-meter hurdles. 

O'Neil registered a school record 2959 points in the pentathlon, breaking the previous school record of 2420 set by Ashlyn May in 2016.  In the hurdles, O'Neil recorded a time of 9.79 seconds.

O'Neil wasn't the only Wildcat to do well in the pentathlon.

Zoi Smith placed fifth overall with 1950 points, Kinlie Judd placed sixth overall with 1455, and Teya Hawkins was seventh with 1153 points.

Emma Smith also contributed to the team effort with a fifth place finish in the 60-meter dash. Smith completed the run in 8.14 seconds.

The Wildcats are scheduled to compete in the Luther College meet next Saturday, Feb. 3, in Decorah, Iowa.
