Women's Track and Field Tunes Up for Heart Championships at Darren Young Classic

The Culver-Stockton women's track and field team tuned up for the conference meet next week by participating in the Darren Young Classic at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, Saturday afternoon.

Competing with a limited roster, the women's team placed 10th out of the 11 collegiate teams participating in the event. The Wildcats managed to score 13.5 points overall.

The Wildcats registered the majority of their point total in the pole vault where Kinlie Judd and Zoe Smith finished third and fourth, respectively. Judd recorded a mark of 9 feet, 0 3/4 inches, which tied the school record that was set by Smith earlier this season. Smith vaulted 8 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

In the only other event the Wildcats placed in the top eight was the 4x400 relay team of Faith Younce, Smith, Emma Berry and Morgan Keith. That quartet placed sixth overall with a time of 5:02.52.

In other action, Younce set a personal best in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:42.19, placing 17th in the event. Keith also set a personal best in the 800-meter run, placing 13th with a time of 2:44.78.

The Wildcats are slated to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
