Women's Volleyball Registers Second Straight Season Sweep of Graceland

The Culver-Stockton College women volleyball team rebounded from last Friday's loss to Peru State by defeating Graceland University in four sets Tuesday night in Lamoni, Iowa.

After losing the first set 25-22, the Wildcats swept the next three sets 25-16, 30-28, 25-16 to earn their second straight season sweep over the Yellowjackets.

The victory improves the Wildcats to 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Graceland falls to 7-1 3 overall and 2-7 in the Heart.

Heleine Filipe and Madison McClain led the offensive attack with 14 kills each. Blanca Martino controlled the middle with seven kills while Zoe Irvin had six kills.

The Wildcats recorded an attack percentage of .141 overall with 45 kills and 21 errors on 170 attacks. Martino garnered a .312 attack percentage with two errors on just 16 swings.

McClain earned her 10th double-double of the season with her 14 kills and 18 digs. Lauren Bloom tallied here seventh double-double of the campaign with 37 set assists and 14 digs.

Kyla Ellis and Veiauna Herman registered team-highs in digs with 20 and 18, respectively. The Wildcats, who had four players in double figures in digs, held a 94-91 edge in that category.

C-SC had nine team blocks in the match with two solo blocks and 14 block assists. Martino led the way with five block assists while Zoe Irvin had three block assists. McClain totaled three blocks with one solo and two assists.

The Wildcats return home this weekend to host a pair of Heart of America Athletic Conference matches. On Friday, the Wildcat host Benedictine College at Charles Field House. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
