Women's Volleyball Wins Both Matches at UHSP Triangular

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team rolled to its sixth and seventh consecutive victories with a pair of wins at the University of Heath Sciences and Pharmacy Triangular in St. Louis, Mo. Friday night.

The Wildcats easily won their first match of the night, defeating Baptist Bible College (Mo.) in three sets 25-11, 25-21, 25-6. In the nightcap, C-SC upended the host school, UHSP, for the second time this season in four sets, winning 16-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.

Against Bible Baptist, the Wildcats used a balanced offensive attack with Lexia Capes leading the way with eight kills. Sydney Powell added six kills, while three players, Cameron Prenter, Zoe Irvin and Abby Godwin, totaled five kills each.

C-SC recorded 11 service aces in the match with Elaysia Rasmussen and Kyla Ellis garnering four aces each. Sarah Wells and Lauren Bloom led the setters with 14 and 10 set assists, respectively.

Defensively, the Wildcats placed two players in double figures in digs with Ellis registering 19 and Kelsie Schieppe15 in the match. C-SC also had 10 block assists in the match with Prenter totaling five and Blanca Martino four.

In the match against Health Sciences and Pharmacy, Madison McClain and Heleine Filipe each recorded double-doubles to lead the attack. McClain garnered a match-high 19 kills and team-high 16 digs, while Filipe had 13 kills and 10 digs. Lauren Bloom garnered 50 set assists.

In the back row, Ellis and Veiauna Herman joined McClain and Filipe in double figures in digs with 13 and 10, respectively. 

The Wildcats (16-5) return to conference play this Tuesday, Oct.18, with a road match at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
