Madison McClin led the Wildcats with 11 kills Tuesday night

Women's Volleyball Swept by Grand View in Final Road Match

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team dropped its final regular season road match in three sets to Grand View University Tuesday night in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Wildcats, who lost the first two sets and then roared back to defeat the Vikings in an earlier meeting this season, couldn't repeat history though they did make things interesting in the third set before falling 25-18, 25-15, 31-29.

Grand View easily took the first two sets before the Wildcats tried to make a match of it with a spirited third set. The final set featured 20 ties and eight lead changes before the Vikings prevailed.

Madison McClain and Heleine Filipe each reached double figures in kills with 11 and 10, respectively, to lead the Wildcats. Lauren Bloom added 20 set assists and three service aces.

Defensively, the Wildcats placed three players in double figures in digs with McClain leading the charge with 17. Kyla Ellis added 16 digs, while Veiauna Herman chipped in with 15 digs.

The Wildcats, now 17-8 overall and 9-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, return home for their final three regular season matches beginning Friday night, Oct. 28, against Mount Mercy University at Charles Field House. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
