Women's Volleyball Ends Best Campaign in a Decade with Victory over Evangel

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team ended its most successful season in a decade with a four-set victory over Evangel University Tuesday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats posted a 25-22, 14-25, 25-19, 25-21 victory over the Valor to finish the year with a 19-9 overall record and an 11-8 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The 19 victories are the most by a Wildcat volleyball team since the 2013 team went 22-10. The victory over Evangel snaps a 17-match losing streak to the Valor dating back to 2004.

C-SC had three players crack double figures in kills with Heleine Filipe leading the charge with 15 terminations. Filipe registered an attack percentage of .229 with four errors on 48 swings. Fellow senior Madison McClain totaled 14 kills and 14 digs to record another double-double on the year. Abby Godwin added 10 terminations, while the two middle hitters, Ali Scott and Blanca Martino, accumulated six kills each.

Lauren Bloom joined McClain in the double-double room with a match-high 42 set assists and 11 digs. The Wildcats also had six service aces with Veiauna Herman contributing a team-best two aces to go along with 10 digs in the match.

The Wildcats also garnered 10 team blocks in the match with Martino tallying seven block assists. Filipe had four blocks assists while McClain and Scott each garnered three block assists.
