Netters Fall Short in Search of Heart Victory

The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team came up two points short in its bid to capture its first Heart of America Athletic Conference victory Tuesday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats fell to Grand View University in five exhilarating sets 25-21, 22-25, 25-27, 26-16, 15-13 to fall to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the conference. C-SC is slated to play two more conference matches this weekend beginning Friday night at MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kan. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.

The Wildcats didn't particularly have a good night attacking the net, registering a negative attack percentage in two of the five sets. In another set the hit at a minuscule .029 percent. 

Zoe Irvin was the top hitter for the Wildcats, recording a team-high 12 kills on 52 attempts. She committed seven hitting errors for a .094 percentage. Ashleigh Brawley garnered 11 kills on 32 attempts with nine errors and a .062 percentage.

Lauren Bloom and Sam Wright combined to set 36 of the 38 assists for the Wildcats in the match. Bloom led the duo with 20 set assists. Emma Daleen had three service aces.

Defensively, Kyla Ellis and Dilan Perry totaled 18 and 17 digs, respectively, to lead the back row. Brawley had three solo blocks while Faith Hopgood tallied three block assists.
