Strong Attack Game Not Enough for Wildcat Netters

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team had its strongest attacking match of the year in a four-set loss to MidAmerica Nazarene University Friday night in Olathe, Kan.

The Wildcats committee a season-low 10 attack errors  and recorded their third-best kill total with 41 terminations in the 25-17, 25-27, 25-18, 25-21 setback to the Pioneers. The .208 hitting percentage was a season-high.

C-SC turned in a balanced offensive attack against the Pioneers with four players with seven or more kills in the match. 

Leading the way was sophomore Zoe Irvin and freshman Emma Daleen with nine kills each. Norah Boggs added eight terminations, while Ashleigh Brawley contributed seven kills. 

Brawley did not commit an attack error and finished with a team-high .318 attack percentage for players with at least 15 attempts. Boggs was next with a .214 attack percentage with just two errors on 28 chances.

Lauren Bloom recorded a double-double in the match with 26 set assists and 17 digs. Kyla Ellis led the Wildcats in the back row with 19 digs. 

Defensively, the Wildcats registered nine team blocks with Boggs and Brawley garnering four block assists each. Faith Hopgood tallied three block assists.

C-SC, now 3-10 overall and 0-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, concludes its two-day league trip to Kansas with a match at Baker University on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Baldwin City, Kan. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at the Collins Center.
